Gene will discuss the many benefits of introducing native plants into a landscape. He will present his trial and error methods and provide a working solution to incorporating natives into your garden.
Gene is a retired attorney and former chair of the Bachman Group of the Sierra Club. He is active in the effort to preserve the Congaree Swamp (Congaree National Park). He became interested in native plants during hiking/backpacking outings in the southern Appalachian mountains. Since moving to his present home, he has attempted, by trial and error,to garden in the woods with an emphasis on planting native plants, His other interests include assisting at the SC Railroad Museum as an engineer and assistant to the museum curator; singing with the Arpad Darazs Singers and watching the Atlanta Braves. Most importantly, he loves his role as husband, father and grandfather
